Do tutors check for plagiarism?

Academic integrity is extremely important. This means that tutors check essays for plagiarism to ensure that the writing is in the student’s own words and that citations are used appropriately when information is taken from outside resources.

If a student’s writing requires additional citation review, our tutors help students cite sources correctly through a non-punitive approach. Our tutors are qualified to detect any plagiarism by making note of abrupt changes in font, changes in language style or vocabulary level, missing quotation marks, and formatting errors.

If a tutor detects plagiarism of any kind, they can notify teachers through the "Plagiar-eyes" badge. Plagiar-eyes is unique to Paper and manually used by tutors to indicate whether or not a tutor has detected plagiarism in a student's writing.
