Users can install the Paper Chrome extension to connect to Paper from outside websites
Instructions:
-
- The Chrome extension can be found in the Chrome web store here.
- The Google Chrome extension can be installed via an individual user or by a Chrome admin using Chrome administration tools.
- Once installed, the admin has the option to pin the extension in the administration console by following the instructions below. (Google instructions article link)
-
From the Admin console Home page, go to Devices > Chrome.
- Click Apps & extensions.
- Click the type of app or extension you want to pin to a specific version:
- Users & browsers—For ChromeOS devices with version 89 or later
- Managed guest sessions—For ChromeOS devices with version 98 or later
- (Users only) To apply the setting to a group, do the following:
- Select Groups.
- Select the group to which you want to apply the setting.
- To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit.
- Find the app you want to pin.
- Under Version pinning, choose the version that you want to pin.
- Click OK to confirm.
-
- For Chromebook or Google Workspace, follow these instructions to install the extension (if applicable)
- As a best practice, we recommend selecting the "Not Pinned" option, mentioned in step 7 of the instructions above. When a specific version of the Paper Chrome Extension is pinned, your schools run the risk of falling behind on security updates as well as new features. Alternatively, by not pinning a version, you will ensure:
- All security updates are implemented
- Students have access to new academic resources
- Seamless and continuous compatibility
Important note: Choosing not to pin the Paper Chrome Extension to your administrative console will not remove it from your address bar. In fact, we encourage that you keep Paper pinned to your browser for easy access!
- Once installed, the admin has the option to pin the extension in the administration console by following the instructions below. (Google instructions article link)
-
After installing and pinning Chrome Extension:
- Once the Chrome extension is installed, users will need to sign in to the extension using either:
- Paper user login
- Google SSO
- Once authenticated, students can initiate a live tutor session similar to what they are used to seeing on the web app, as well as upload written work to the Review Center.
- Users will remain logged in for seven days.
- Once the Chrome extension is installed, users will need to sign in to the extension using either:
Limitations: The extension will not function in an empty new tab in Chrome. The user must have an existing site open for the extension to work correctly. Other sites (such as Facebook) may also have this limitation.
